Title:
Potential Impact of the WiMax enabled PDAs on Digital Medicine
Author:
Ian Alexander, MD
WiMax is about sweeping changes in the remote handling of information and potentially even
how we communicate. With high-speed data and Internet access available essentially anywhere
in metropolitan areas, this technology is likely to have an impact on our personal and business
lives on par with that of wireless voice communication.
Although healthcare may be delayed in adoption of this technology compared to business and society
at large, it is inevitable that this technology will have a major impact on the provision of healthcare
services. The purpose of this presentation is to explore the potential impact of WiMax technology,
combined with increasingly capable pocket size computing devices, on the future of healthcare delivery.
